Epic 5+ hour Clubhouse call on Handshake, dWeb, & web3.0
Still catching my breath after an unbelievable 5+ hour marathon call bringing together top minds in the Domain Investment (“Domainer”) space and the Handshake HNS DWeb space.
A true “meeting of the minds”.
Was tempted to pull out the mastermind/ TLD we own at Skyinclude and use handshake.mastermind - but was too short notice. This should have been documented it was such an amazing session.
Mark Smith - @AgentSmith on this Handshake Mercenary forum, pulled this together last minute - I think he even bought an iPhone to get on Clubhouse, and coordinated a time on Saturday night East Coast/West Coast time Saturday Jan 30, 2021 which was morning here in China / Asia (10am) Sunday Jan 31, 2021.
Handshake Jesus of course was in attendance, our savior
And on Telegram, he was super excited:
It was a more “freestyle” Q&A session to help educate people on web 3.0 and more specifically Handshake TLDs + HNS token.
With a focus on working with the Domain Investment community, with super awesome people such as:
Mark Smith from Namesake.domain (AgentSmith here)
Handshake Jesus
Steve McKie
Zach Fogg
Michael Cyger
(You can read another other thread on the Handshake Mercenary forum about my discussion with him at Namescon here
viewtopic.php?p=290#p290 ) who is getting more intrigued by it.
Jothan (Foap/)
Joe Alagna
Rehan
Preston
Just so many amazing people.....
Some of the highlights -
Lots of education on it, how it started
Steve McKie joined later on and gave the “long story” per the request of Joe Alagna - who is a leader in the domain investment space and also spent time at 101 Domains. It must have been a 15 to 20 minute deep dive into the early beginnings of Handshake, bCoin fork, and it was so technical.
Many on the call were learning about Handshake for the first time, and it seemed eye opening.
A top question was how ICANN saw this, and also discussions about other Naming conventions that tried (and failed).
Joe asked if we were talking to the Opera browser, seems he has inroads there.
We didn’t know anyone talking to Opera, mainly we are aware of Brave Browser, Puma Browser, Handy Browser, and NextDNS supporting it or working towards it.
Preston on the call talked about Open ID and how Google invested a lot of resources in it and that we should study this one as well.
Mark shared how he has .gin/ and it is on the SLD registrars (101domains, Encirca, and Gateway.io) and how he has sold a few - mainly to Instagram influencers - at 250 usd/year) and his strategy of niche investment in TLDs to build a portfolio. Also about his excitement for Emoji domains and building out directories of dLinks (decentralized links).
Ryan came on stage and shared how he sold Nft/ TLD a week or so earlier for 84,000 USDT privately - that deserves a thread on Handshake Mercenary of its own, so

I answered questions and tried to talk about it from internet marketing and business standpoint. Also tried to differentiate it from traditional domains and SLD sales to remind people this is a Crypto domain and can be used (in the future hopefully) for payment, as well as other “super powers” domains now don’t have.
I will try to recall other notes - but this was one of those amazing times when top leaders and influencers in the space come together .
Great feedback in the Telegram and Discord groups,

Hope more meetings like this will happen, and makes me want to leverage the .mastermind/ TLD asap! That truly was a meeting of the minds.
