How to Get your TLD on Gateway.io to sell SLD domains

Post by skyinclude »

Getting Your Handshake TLD added to Namebase’s Gateway.io

Many want to get onto the https://gateway.io Handshake registrar.

Right now, there is a google form, somewhere but cannot locate now

https://feedback.namebase.io/namebase-f ... el-domains

And you can apply and get on a waiting list / wait for them to contact you.

Really curious how this is going for those on it now, and how the process works once approved.

I've been approved. The both TLD's are both mine.

https://www.encirca.com/viewnow/

https://www.encirca.com/explorenow/

The old process involved Namebase setting up a video chat call with people to explain the process and explain that you need to set your prices and create marketing kits to explain your domains.

Although it was supposed to be 101domain, Encirca and Gateway.io, 101Domain doesn't reflect anything other than the initial test domains eg. .txt, .js.

What i wish i had considered at the time was markups. Secondly I'm not happy with how Encirca has a question mark next to crypto domains. It's like they're discouraging people from buying crypto domains using dark patterns because ICANN domains are their main source of income.

My big sales fantasy is for Gateway.io to undergo a massive overhaul into a website with a built in affiliate marketing program. The reason is that gateway.io sells handshake domains and only handshake domains which eliminates on site competition from ICANN and rival crypto domain systems.

Secondly, really good content creators are trusted figures in their respective niches. Content creators are constantly looking for ways to monetize their content. I could easily see handshake users approaching content creators to convince them to monetize their content by selling tlds that match their content niches.

Example: Bob is a tld holder for .DJ. Bob approaches Alex who creates DJ tutorials on youtube and offers him the opportunity to promote .DJ sub domain sales and Alex gets %X for every sub domain sold to someone who visits the site through his affiliate URL.

I believe that there is a content creator for every comprehensible tld and they can be tapped to represent the handshake community given the right incentives.

Dashen that's rad you have set up to sell TLDs on encirca, who holds custody of the TLD for this? Is it all manual when someone buys the SLD, or is it automated?

For example, if I were to buy an SLD of ViewNow on encirca, would it be immediately available to configure in an Encirca account upon payment?

Its all automated. When you purchase from Encirca, you control your sub domain settings through Encirca.

They did promise an automated system for selling SLDs going forward. This was to resolve the bottleneck of so many people waiting to sell SLDs and a long wait time.

I'm hoping with automated system that names can be reserved to try and work something out with a content creator to sell SLDs.

Hi Dashen,

thanks for your contributions to this forum, it is posts like this that help so many of us (myself included).

I have an idea - well - some brainstorming

1) I don't even sell SLDs yet but bought ".com" to help promote them (2 of my favorite TLDs we own at SkyInclude are bartender/ and mastermind/)

so we made mini sites for them
https://www.dotmastermind.com
https://www.dotbartender.com

I think Mark @ Namesake.domains (AgentSmith on this forum) has his site around selling his gin/ - https://namesake.domains - with his blog posts and other content marketing.

Maybe you can do the same for your TLDs? Even other TLDs you may own.

2) Maybe we can set up a cross promotion / alliance of each other's TLDs and like pool them together for marketing. I was an organizer at Startup Weekend, and one of the sponsors was .co - they gave all startup teams a free year of a .co - and us as organizers were really pushed to make sure the teams took up that opportunity.

So maybe we can all pool resources together to promote each other's TLDs in campaigns.

3) Maybe you can make a dedicated post here to offer your SLDs - not sure if you can offer coupons or free ones on your own, but you are doing a great competition / giveaway w/ the integrately (thanks for posting here) - maybe try something similar.

Hope these ideas help, and hope we can follow in your footsteps and start to sell SLDs. I think it is all the TLD Handshake owner's dreams /goals.

Its nice to have people to talk about the subject of selling SLDs with.

You've given me something to think about.

For your own interest i use Brizy Cloud for landing pages with an enquire.click sub domain i keep to whip out multiple pages using just the one domain name.

https://viewnow.enquire.click and https://explorenow.enquire.click were the marketing pages i had to put together to begin selling SLDs. At the time i didn't realize that they only needed simply pages and so i ended up going a bit overboard. However the nice thing about drag and drop systems like Brizy is that you can save block layouts and templates to replicate designs quickly and just change a few things.

I may try marketing in the form of an offer to show people how to use a blockchain SLD or blockchain SLD use cases via an email sequence which ends in a link to the Encirca page to buy an SLD off a TLD i own. Now that i have Integrately i should play around with that and see what plans i can hatch to sell SLDs.

I wish Gateway.io had individual pages for Handshake TLDs. The fact that it's handshake focused means there's no distracting ICANN domains. but at least i have Encirca.

Hopefully this forum can help promote more TLD owners selling SLDs.

And I have a feeling as the ecosystem grows, the community will find so many ways to help each other and build out directories.

This is what I love so far about Handshake - the amazing people in it taking action and making things happen.

And thanks for your contributions on this forum as well.
