What Is The Difference of Handshake HNS vs. Butterfly Protocol BFLY

A lot of people in the Telegram groups asking about what this difference between Handshake HNS http://handshake.org and the new Butterfly Protocol BFLY http://butterflyprotocol.io
While of course this is HANDSHAKE.mercenary, running on a Handshake TLD, we do want to keep our eyes and ears open:
From the Butterfly Protocol Telegram group we read this response:
Just doing this to share what valuable insights we mainly see in Telegram groups which are hard to keep up with and follow:
Text from the telegram group of butterfly protocol
and then from Various Handshake Telegram groups (Mainly Handshake Talk) we saw this response and highlights

From Dana Farbo:
Good question. There are similarities in some of the goals such as getting away from centralized control of how we use the internet and technology. Butterfly is set up to be more holistic in that the Top-Level domain creation is just one part of an ecosystem of development within the subdomain space. Butterfly creates a new naming convention for just about anything in the digital space from identity management to the movement of goods. An example is in our development of a social media DApp currently called Butterfly Social that uses a TLD like .human with subdomains like yourname.human to validate and provide access to your social content without fear of a central control censoring it. It is the ecosystems of DApp's like this that grows the value long term. BFLY token holders sponsor TLD's like .human and then the community of BFLY holders are rewarded with subBFLY tokens much like an airdrop or automatic staking. The subBFLY tokens are used to buy the subdomains. If you follow this, it means that there is an endless scenario of TLD sponsorship, leading to DApp development that fuels value for the entire community.
Noodle pasta user's response :
Thanks. I see so its like a mix of decentralized icann domains and NFT’s in a way. Interesting
Answer from Dana Farbo :
2 levels of NFT's, 2 levels of ERC-20's. TLD will be an NFT owned by the Registrar contract so no individual owns it. The subdomains that are created are individual NFT's that are owned by the person buying them with the subBFLY tokens which are ERC-20. Then the person or entity with the subdomain can create their own token economy/DApp as they see fit.
I have another business that I started to bring immersive learning to remote workers using VR and AR. The core tech is built after millions in investment and we are onboarding large enterprise customers now. The data flow on the individual side will be built with the usage of a TLD and subdomains that personally store data using blockchain and IPFS. Then a user interface will connect the individual to their data so that they can manage it, sell it, etc.

Hope this helps shed some light on the situation. Feedback and replies welcome.Steve McKie
Avoid copycats. Handshake is the bitcoin of namespace chains and always will be.

I used to be concerned about other namespaces but I've come to accept their inevitability, appreciate the differentiation & nuance they bring (refines selling points) & view name clash scenarios as having the same street address in different states. There will be more & less desirable locations & browsers will be are our maps. Being a desirable chain is the objective.
Mckie nailed it saying HNS is the Bitcoin of Namespace chains & while I have no intention of being a maximalist or shunning other protocols, I think HNS is one of the most thoughtfully designed & equitable projects in existence right now, so I don't pay others much attention.
Still good to keep generally informed to refine selling points though!
Ngl I kinda liked Sentivate's branding more. Great work on the Octopus logo!

yep. they seem to have some overall nice ideas, but IMHO being bound to ethereum is the wrong foundational choice. Last time I performed ERC-20 transactions it cost me way too much in fees. Part of the ultimate value of decentralized tech is that it can enable affordable commerce without paying arbitrary amounts to middlemen. If to spend $1 on a dapp I have to pay $15 to miners, this won't work for general commerce as promised.

eth staking has almost made a masternode scam. in which everyone pays 32 eth to run a node, and then u give profits which is a new tax on eth
hns is better setup to not be involved in wierd ethonomics

Better for decentralization too
yeah i'm really happy handshake has its own blockchain. i think this increases its appeal to bitcoiners, etherians and other crypto communities.
Plus it would be like 20 dollars a transaction
